Rushmoor Urban Wildlife Group
The Rushmoor Urban Wildlife Group (RUWG) is a community of local individuals who are interested in helping nature and wildlife in the borough. We are an independent organisation, although we enjoy the support of Rushmoor Council as well as other local bodies.
What we do
- We organise projects involving members - putting up bird boxes, clearing ponds, planting wild flowers etc...
- The Group also applies for grants for larger projects - for example, with a 2016 grant from TAG, we have bought meadow turf and hired a contractor to lay it at sites around the borough
- We encourage everyone to do something to help wildlife - whether they have a garden, an allotment, a balcony, or even just a window box
- In 2017 we are planning to organise events for members, such as meetings and themed nature walks around the borough - and we have now started a regular newsletter for members.
The RUWG is open to anyone aged 18 or over in Rushmoor (including all of Farnborough and Aldershot). Membership is entirely free. If you are interested in joining this friendly community, contact the Secretary, Paul Howe, via the Contact page on this site - or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
